Ordinex US Energy Data (the "Service") provides point-in-time, walk-forward-validated energy-market factor scores and raw price/ storage series, derived from EIA, NOAA, and ERCOT data, accessed over a REST API.
The Service is not investment or trading advice. Data, factor scores, rankings, screens, and any other output are provided for informational purposes only and do not constitute a recommendation to enter into, hold, or exit any position or trade. You are solely responsible for any trading or investment decisions made using the Service. Backtested effect sizes and other historical validation results published in our factor catalogue are historical, gross of transaction costs, slippage, and capacity constraints, and are not indicative of future results.
The Service is currently offered as an early-access product, and by using it you acknowledge and accept that, during this period:
Nothing in this section limits any other section of these Terms, including No Warranty and Limitation of Liability below, both of which apply in full during and after the early-access period.
Natural gas, storage, petroleum, and electricity retail-sales data is sourced from the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA), a U.S. government work in the public domain. Weather data is sourced from NOAA's Climate Data Online (CDO), also public-domain federal data. Real-time settlement-point power pricing is sourced from ERCOT's Public API, used under ERCOT's general Website Terms of Use. Our own assessment of each source's licensing position - not a substitute for independent legal advice - is published in full at LEGAL_REVIEW.md.
A small number of ISO-derived factors (CAISO and NYISO wholesale power spark spread) are computed and used internally for our own research but are not served through this API - every endpoint enforces this at the code level (an allowlist of factor names and, for some factors, specific regions/subjects), and a request for a non-public factor or subject returns a 404 response rather than data, an error, or a warning header. This scope can change as our own legal review of additional sources progresses.
The availability, accuracy, and licensing terms of third-party data sources are outside of our control and may change without notice. You are responsible for independently verifying that your use of any data obtained through the Service complies with any restrictions imposed by the underlying source, in addition to these Terms.
You are solely responsible for:
API keys are issued at our discretion and may be revoked at any time, for any reason, without notice - including for suspected abuse, excessive load, or violation of these Terms. You agree not to:
The Service and all data are provided "as is," without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to accuracy, completeness, timeliness, or fitness for a particular purpose. We do not guarantee that data or factor scores are accurate, complete, or up to date. Data is sourced from third parties and may contain errors, gaps, revisions, or delays outside our control.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law:
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages or liability; in those jurisdictions, the above limitations apply only to the maximum extent permitted by law.
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold us harmless from and against any claims, damages, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or related to: (a) your use or misuse of the Service; (b) your violation of these Terms; or (c) your violation of any applicable law or the rights of a third party.
These Terms are governed by the laws of Placeholder[governing jurisdiction - to be determined], without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. This section is a placeholder - a specific governing jurisdiction has not yet been designated and will be added once determined.
We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
Our collection and use of personal information in connection with the Service is described in our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.
The Service is not endorsed, sponsored, or affiliated with the U.S. Energy Information Administration, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, or the Electric Reliability Council of Texas. All computed factors and analyses are our own independent work, built from these sources' public data.
